Driver Rams NJ State Police Vehicles, Switches Cars On Route 78: Cops

A driver who crashed into multiple state police vehicles in Whippany Township remains at large after leading a brief pursuit before abandoning his vehicle and getting into another on Route 78, Monday, Nov. 20, authorities said.

At 9:15 a.m., detectives were in a parking garage at 34 Eden Lane trying to arrest a suspect wanted in connection with a pending investigation, when the suspect rammed into the unmarked state police vehicles in an attempt to flee the scene, according to New Jersey State Police.

The suspect fled east on Route 24 toward Route 78 east toward the Garden State Parkway entrance ramp, police said. 

At the toll plaza, the suspect abandoned their vehicle, entered into another vehicle and continued back east on Route 78, where they remain at-large, police said.
